A NEW HOUSE
THAT SAVES

Moving into your new home should be the experience of a lifetime. You want that experience to be the best it can be.

When you build your own home, you want a final product that's better than any other on the market. Do it right the first time - get expert advice before you build to make your new home as energy efficient as possible, and keep your energy bills under control for years to come. Call on our expert EnerGuide advisors to review data from your blueprints and make recommendations for money saving features that could be included in your new home before it is built.

An EnerGuide for Houses rating is a standard measure of your home's energy performance. The EnerGuide rating for your new home shows you (and future buyers) exactly how energy efficient your home is. It also shows you that your builder has met its commitment in making your home significantly more energy efficient.

A Guide to EnerGuide for Houses Ratings

TYPE OF HOUSE RATING
Old house not upgraded 0 to 50
Upgraded old house 51 to 65
Energy-efficient upgraded old or typical new house 66 to 74
Energy-efficient new house 75 to 79
Highly energy-efficient new house 80 to 90
House that uses little or no purchased energy 91 to 100

The EnerGuide for Houses service for new houses starts with an analysis of your house plans by an EnerGuide for New Houses advisor. He or she will recommend different energy-saving upgrades for your home. After building is complete, the EnerGuide advisor will verify the energy upgrades that have been incorporated and will perform a blower door test. After this data has been collected, you will receive your EnerGuide rating label.
