Submit your house plans for assessment by the Hot-2000 software. You will be
given a report indicating whether your house, as planned, will meet the energy
efficiency targets of the program. If it does not meet the standards, you with get
information about how your plans can be modified to ensure that your house complies.
Choose an R-2000 Builder. Requirements of an R-2000 builder include:
- Membership in the Atlantic Home Warranty Program
- Completion of the R-2000 builder training program
- Completion of at least 1 house that has met the program requirements
R-2000 Builders include Registered R-2000 Builders and Trained R-2000 Builders. Trained
builders have not enrolled a house in the program to date. However, engaging them as your
builder will still qualify your house for program enrolment.
Successful review of a pre-drywall and final inspection, along with successful results from
a "blower door" test. You will be given third party assurance that your house has met or exceeded
the energy efficiency and indoor air quality standards of the program.
If your builder suggests your house can be built "as good as" R-2000 ask yourself: "What is it
worth to me to be assured that I've received all that I have been promised?"
The local R-2000 Regional Office reviews your house file. Once they are sure that all the
necessary elements have been met, your house is enrolled in the Program. You will receive official
notification of your house's enrollment, complete with a Registration number. With receipt of the
Registration Certificate you will be confident that your house has been built to a recognized,
world-class standard ensuring that your home is warmer, cleaner, quieter and healthier!
